Motivation, Goal Setting, Partnering and Zumba

Eight months ago, I was trying to establish a balance in my busy life. I was always tired, frustrated and in a bad mood. In the morning, I am a bookkeeper in a chain of supermarkets, in the afternoon, I was teaching computer classes for adults in a special program in Las Vegas Urban League; all of this while I was taking three classes at CSN. One of my nieces informed me about a new place that was teaching Zumba classes. My mom and I attended and we both found a new way to relieve stress, lose weight and stay healthy. We have been doing Zumba for several months now. The combination of physical exercises that makes your body move to the contagious rhythms of merengue, salsa, cumbia and reguetoon has helped us lose twelve pounds, two sizes and it keeps me highly motivated and happy. What about you? Do you have a plan to get fit?

  1. I had the privilege of volunteering in Poland last summer at an English immersion camp for teens. One of the classes they loved was the one on Zumba. I had never heard of it before. But it looked like it would be a perfect and fun exercise. I've been looking to get started in Las Vegas. Hope you will review some of the different locations that have these classes.

    1. Sure Professor. In two next posts I will provide information about Zumba classes in Las Vegas. It is a interesting assignment to motivate me not only continuing to take Zumba class but also knowing its beginning, types of Zumba classes and getting fit and healthy.

  5. I've taken Zumba at the YMCA since October 2011, and have lost a total of 45 pounds. At first I took an easy class and couldn't finish a session for the first month. But then I built up my endurance so much that I am now taking an intense and harder class 4 times a week along with other muscle building classes. My instructor is former military, and so she pushes us every time. I feel energized, my allergies are not as bad as they used to be, and my doctor said my lung capacity has greatly improved. During this past holiday season, I didn't go to class regularly. I felt so tired and I gained 4 pounds. So I made it a point never to stop taking Zumba. It's so much fun and good for you!!!

  6. My mother started to take zumba classes since August of last year. She suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. No Dr has being able to stabilized her health condition, not here in the U.S. and also my country. However zumba has been able to do stabilized my mothers health condition. The Dr'S. tell her to keep doing zumba as her health gets better and better. Zumba does make a difference in someone's health.

  7. When we went to visit my parents in Hawaii my son went to a Zumba class with my mom. Out there they just do it in a parking lot or in a park. My son had a lot of fun with it.
I have recently started taking steps to help my family get healthier. We all started easting better and I was starting to work out. I was doing interval running at the beginning of this month and tore where the muscle and tendon connect in my calf. After 2 weeks in bed I am feeling better and wanting to get back working out.
